Carl H. Imlay

BOONSBORO - Carl Hudson Imlay, 77, of 19120 Swinging Bridge Road, died Monday, Jan. 27, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Dec. 21, 1919, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Charles Vernon and Nelle Hudson Imlay.

He was a graduate of Harvard University.

He retired as the general counsel of the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts in Washington, D.C.

A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army in the European Theater.

He was a member of Torch Club in Hagerstown, Harvard Club, attended the Great Decision group in Hagerstown, and was a Kentucky Colonel.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dorothy Willenbucher Imlay; two sons, Christopher D. Imlay of Cloverly, Md., and C. Lincoln Imlay of McLean, Va.; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia I. Cotten.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, Feb. 9, at 1 p.m. at 7345 Eldorado St., McLean, Va. Burial will be private.

There will be no viewing or visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Washington County Hospital, 251 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown, Md. 21740; or to the Lombardi Cancer Research Center, Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, D.C.

Arrangements are by Bast Funeral Home in Boonsboro.

M. Lorraine H. Quackenbush

M. Lorraine Huff Quackenbush, 67, of 12 S. Walnut St., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Jan. 4, 1930, in Clear Spring, she was the daughter of the late Basil L. and Lillie D. Myers Alshire.

She was the foster daughter of Ethel M. Parlett of Waynesboro, Pa., and the late Roy Parlett.

Her first husband, Walter J. Huff, died in 1969.

Her second husband, James R. Quackenbush, died in 1983.

In addition to her foster mother, she is survived by her daughter, Peggy M. Huff of Hagerstown; two sisters, Betty L. Coyle of Waynesboro, and Beverley A. Shanholts of Hagerstown; and one brother, Kenneth L. Parlett of Hagerstown.

Services will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown.

The Rev. Robert V. Robinson will officiate.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 92 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, Md. 21740.

John W. McAllister

John William McAllister, 66, of 303 Summit Ave., Hagerstown, died Monday, Jan. 27, 1997, at University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore.

Born Feb. 24, 1930, in Clear Spring, he was the son of the late Howard and Edna E. Hawbaker McAllister.

He was a self-employed mason.

He is survived by his wife, Helen McAllister; five daughters, Alexis Munson and Melanie Huffer, both of Hagerstown, Starlene Ramsey of Sharpsburg, Erin Dawn Clark and Quinn Thomas, both of Boonsboro; one sister, Betty J. Snyder of Hagerstown; two brothers, Ray Howard McAllister of Hagerstown and George F. McAllister of Funkstown; four grandsons; and nephews.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate.

Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

William B. Turner Jr.

INWOOD, W.Va. - William B. Turner Jr., 82, of Route 1, died Monday, Jan. 27, 1997, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born Nov. 28, 1914, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late William B. Sr. and Mary Ellis Turner.

Before his retirement, he owned and operated, along with his son, Turner's Auto Service.

He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.

He was former Martinsburg City Council member and former chairman of the Democratic Party.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Morrissey Turner; two sons, Ronald W. Turner of Funkstown and Neal W. Turner Sr. of Martinsburg; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Turner and Howard Turner.

Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg.

The Rev. John E. Wright will officiate.

Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Eleanor F. Andras

Eleanor F. Andras, 79, of 17611 Meadowood Drive, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 1997, at her home.

Born in Connellsville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine Helpmark Keill.

Her husband, Joseph R. Andras, died in 1978.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hagerstown.

She is survived by one daughter, Juanita A. Maloney of Hagerstown; two sisters, Dorothy Hart of San Mateo, Calif., and Florence Lasky of Grange, Ohio; two brothers, Vincent Keill of Bell Vernon, Pa., and Robert Keill of Connellsville; and one grandchild.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 224 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, with the Rev. George Limmer, as celebrant.

Burial will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Visitation Cemetery in Mount Pleasant, Pa.

Harold R. Fisher

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Harold R. "Dick" Fisher, 68, of 6626 Grindstone Hill Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 1997, at ManorCare Health Services in Chambersburg.

Born March 24, 1928, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late John H. and Vivian E. Keefer Fisher.

He was a retired trackman with Western Maryland Railway in Hagerstown.

He also was employed at CSX Railroad Division as Eastern Department engineer in Hagerstown.

He served with the U.S. Navy.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He was a member of Frank L. Carbaugh Post 373 American Legion in Greencastle, Pa., and Brotherhood of Maintenance of Ways.

He is survived by his wife, Delores J. Dubbs Fisher, whom he married Nov. 24, 1988; one stepdaughter, Cheryl K. Pringle of Fayetteville, Pa.; one stepson, Darryl R. Dubbs of Shippensburg, Pa.; three sisters, Louise Shatzer and Vivian Fisher, both of Chambersburg, and Betty Creager of Greencastle; and three brothers, Luther Fisher of Greencastle, Fred Fisher and Floyd Fisher, both of Chambersburg; and four step-grandchildren.

Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg.

The Rev. Michael E. Allwein will officiate.

Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg.

A viewing will be held at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m., and one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Memorial donations may be made to Summit Home Health, 176 S. Coldbrook Ave., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Helen L. Bengen

Helen L. Bengen, 73, of 11 S. Walnut St., Hagerstown, died Monday, Jan. 27, 1997, at Reeder Memorial Home in Boonsboro.

Born in Gregory, S.D., she was the daughter of the late Charles L. and Mathilda Nelson Spicknail.

Her husband, Oliver Bengen, died in 1978.

She was a retired employee of Northrup Aircraft.

She is survived by one daughter, Dixie C. Newhouse Norman of Smithsburg; three sisters, Eva Scoggins of Redlands, Calif., Gladine Anderson of Mobridge, S.D., and Jeanetta Ritta of Gregory; and three grandsons.

Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown.

The Rev. Steve Hyde will officiate.

Burial will be in Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, Calif.

Lloyd H. Garber

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Lloyd H. Garber, 66, of 7569 Molly Pitcher Highway, died Monday, Jan. 27, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.

Born March 30, 1930, in Mount Joy, Pa., he was the son of the late Lloyd Garber and Margaret Frank Garber Brenize.

He was a 1946 graduate of Chambersburg High School.

He was a branch manager with Sta-Rite Industries in Lynchburg, Va., retiring in 1989.

He was a member of Monroe Lodge 301 F.&A.M. in Appomattox, Va., and a social member of Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion in Chambersburg.

He is survived by his wife, M. Margaret Rosenberry Garber, whom he married Sept. 27, 1950; two sons, Ronald L. Garber of Chambersburg, and William W. Binner of Tifton, Ga.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg.

The Rev. Patrick B. Jones will officiate.

Private burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery in Chambersburg.

A viewing will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Friday.

The family requests the omission of flowers.
